Because of the harsh environments of the marine environment, boat glass failure most often comes from these main areas: discoloration due to water exposure, moisture absorption in the interlayer, and scuffing / scratching from ice and salt. DuraShield marine glass is designed to specifically stand up to these elements, featuring a non-porous interlayer, discoloration-proof surfaces, and no soft films used on exposed areas of the glass.

DuraShield marine glass also incorporates other brilliant innovations for marine glazing. Glass cracking can often result when windshields or windows are washed with cold water, after exposure to the hot tropical sun. This thermal impact can create immense stress on the glass, resulting in fracture. The thermal toughening process in DuraShield glass generates excellent thermal stress resistance to prevent this.

DuraShield boat glass can be installed with virtually any sealant the yard prefers- Dow Corning, Sika Flex, Bostik, and more, without fear of chemical reaction.

Another very important advantage DuraShield offers is 99% UV protection. Yacht interiors, including leather, carpets, paint, and other surfaces susceptible to fading from UV light are now protected with this brilliant yacht glass!

In essence: DuraShield® Superyacht Glass is a superior glass designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands for marine glazing applications. Its manufacturing process incorporates a high performance Marine Grade interlayer developed by Glasshape Ltd. Because of this unique interlayer, DuraShield® delivers the ultimate in strength, clarity, noise reduction, thermal performance and safety.
